Welcome! I'm Lou, I live and work in Kent, UK, and have had a lifelong passion for art.
I am largely self-taught, and recently made the decision to take up painting and drawing again more seriously to see where it took me. I discovered a love of drawing and painting still life, particularly Chinese/Japanese ceramics, often with a Kintsugi repair. I love the concept of something being repaired and showing its scars of the past and still being relevant and beautiful and useful. Never more so than in this day and age, with both the pressure for perfection and the plastic throw-away society in which we find ourselves.
I held my first successful exhibition in February 2020, at the Fishslab Gallery, Whitstable, and in 2021, 2023 and 2024 had paintings selected and sold at The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours annual exhibitions held at the Mall Galleries, London. I also have work held in private collections around the UK.
By day I work for a fine art and antiques auctioneers which is often a good source of inspiration and ideas!
Thank you for looking and please feel free to contact me with any queries or questions.
